• President George Bush was an F-102 fighter pilot and served the Texas Air National Guard. He also received an MBA degree from the Harvard in 1975.

• A staunch follower of traditional American values, President George H W Bush asserted that America needed to be a more compassionate nation towards the developing nations of the world in order to bolster its international presence.

• President George Herbert Walker Bush was born in 1924 in Massachusetts and registered himself in the army at the age of 18.
• He was the youngest pilot in the armed forces when he was commissioned and is accredited to having flown 58 combat planes during WW II.

• President Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of The United States
• The Reagan Revolution that lasted for almost a decade, can be safely termed as one of the most productive and intellectually stimulating periods of American history.
• His programs aimed at reducing the interdependence between the people and the government. These programs has reinstated the confidence that the American people had lost in themselves.
• Born in Illinois in February 1911, President Ronald Reagan graduated from the Eureka college. Apart from being a confident student of Economics and Sociology, he was an all round performer. President Ronald Reagan was in the College football team and was also a part of the college dramatics society.
• President Ronald Reagan started out as a Radio announcer and a screen test in ’37 had also earned him a Hollywood contract.
• From ’37 onwards, for the next 20 years, President Ronald Reagan was featured in more than 50 films.
• In 1966, he was selected the Governor of California.
• In 1980, he was nominated as the republican presidential candidate.
• It was because of people’s discontentment over rising inflation and Iran woes, that President Ronald Reagan forced his way into the office. The people just wanted to throw the ruling democrats out of the office and hence, Reagan, out of a well crafted Republican agenda, assumed office in 1981.

• President James Carter was the 39th president of The United States
• President James Carter, better known as President Jimmy Carter, wanted to bring competency in the office. He had great compassion towards the poor and he aspired to meet their expectations even in the era of rising inflation and energy costs and dipping productivity.
• Born in a family of peanut farmers in Georgia in the year 1924, President James Carter was a devout baptist and most of his idle time went into long hours discussing and assessing the political situation of his country.
• He had graduated from the Naval academy and immediately after completing his graduation, he married Rosallyn Smith.
• Nominated on the first ballot during the Democratic meeting in ’74, Carter’s two-year long campaign had gained momentum with time.
• As promised by him during his campaigns, President James Carter had definitely worked hard to curtail the ongoing inflation crisis and had also generated about 8 million jobs during his tenure of four years from 1977 to 1981.
• He had also worked in the field of energy conservation and was instrumental in forming the National energy policy and also pushed for decontrolling petrol prices to boost domestic production.

• President Richard M Nixon was the 37th president of The United States
• Restoration of normalcy and peace at home and internationally were on the top of President Richard Nixon’s agenda of change. He had ushered in a new era to a nation divided like never before.
• President Richard Nixon was instrumental in ending the American war in Vietnam and had also worked to improve America’s relations with China and the USSR.
• His election as the President was an aberration on more than one counts- first he had reemerged after being defeated in 1960 as a presidential nominee and then in 1962 as the Governor of California.

• Being the youngest elected President, and the youngest to be assassinated only two years after assuming office, President John F Kennedy has been one of the finest American presidents ever to have taken the oath.
• A Harvard Graduate, President John F Kennedy was a part of the navy. After the war, he is said to have joined the democrats in 1953. He was also escalated to the senate from Boston area.
• A prolific writer, he had penned down the book Profiles in Courage, which had fetched him a Pulitzer’s Prize in history.
• His subtle and catchy debates with his opponent from the republican party, Richard Nixon, were immensely popular and the nation watched with dropped jaws when both these voracious orators got face to face on the television.
• Being of an Irish descent, President John F Kennedy became the first Roman Catholic President of America in the history by defeating his rival with a small margin in 1960. He assumed office in 1961.
• “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”, coined by President John F Kennedy, is one of the most memorable political clichés of all time.
