President Dwight Eisenhower

• President Dwight Eisenhower was the 34th president of The United States
• President Dwight Eisenhower had been the commanding officer of the armed forces that had been victorious in Europe during the WWII period.
• When President Dwight Eisenhower had left the office, he, in his words, had proclaimed that “America is the single most powerful nation in the world” and attributed this success to the moderately Republican policies adopted by him during his tenure from 1953 to 1961.
• President Dwight Eisenhower was born in 1890 in Texas and was raised at Kansas for the larger part of his early life. Being a phenomenal sportsmen at the high school, he was appointed at the West Point. He tied the knot in 1916 with Mamie Doud.
• Serving under some of the greatest American army generals like Walter Kruger and John Pershing, President Dwight Eisenhower was seen as one of the best army men of his times.
• After being the president of the Columbia University, he was nominated as the Republican candidate- he registered one of the biggest wins in American history in 1952 and assumed the power in ’53.

President Harry Truman

• President Harry Truman was the 33th president of The United States
• Born in 1884 in Missouri, President Harry Truman had lived a life of a prosperous farmer for the initial years of his life. Later, during WWI, he went to France and served the artillery. Later, he married Elizabeth Wallace.
• He was an active democrat and was also elected a judge in the Jackson County Court.
• Known as a war oriented President, President Harry Truman was the one to have suspended the urgent request to Japan, asking them to surrender. Instead, he ordered the atomic bombardment of the cities in Japan where war-work was going on- Hiroshima and Nagasaki were two of them. Japan surrendered soon after the bombings.
• President Harry Truman was also the US representative when the UN Charter was being signed in 1945.
• President Harry Truman had also introduced his very own 21 point program aiming at an increased internal security, better employment and better economic policies.
• President Harry Truman was known for his outrageously bold, yet effective foreign policies, which have been attributed as being the forerunners of American graduation to the superpower status in the later half of the 20th century.

President Franklin Roosevelt

• President Franklin D Roosevelt was the 32th president of The United States
• Known as the person to have reinstated the faith that the American people had lost in themselves, President Franklin Roosevelt had assumed office at the peak (bottom) of The Great Depression in 1933.
• His promise of focussed action and prompt decisions showed him the way to the White House.
• Having been an alumnus of Harvard University and Columbia law school, President Franklin Roosevelt had entered politics through public services only, mush like his cousin Theodore Roosevelt. He had entered as a democrat, which was in striking contradiction to his cousin’s political inclinations.
• After being appointed an assistant Secretary of the Navy, he had moved ranks rapidly and was later nominated as the Vice-Presidential democrat candidate in 1920.
• He was a fighter to the core- after having been struck by a partial paralysis attack in 1921, he fought back hard and recovered both his legs back. Later, in 1928, he was elected as the Governor of New York.
• It was during his tenure, that a nation of 13,000,000 unemployed people had started achieving stability.

President Herbert Hoover

• President Herbert Hoover was the 31th president of The United States
• An engineer, administrator, philanthropic and a stout serviceman, President Herbert Clarke Hoover had ushered in a new era of service to the White house and the whole meaning of being an American president had been flipped upside down during his tenure.
• Born in Iowa, President Herbert Hoover had graduated from the Stanford University in its maiden year. He passed out as a mining engineer.
• After marrying his college time girl friend- Lou Henry, a Chinese, he went to China and worked there as a top mining engineer for few years.
• On his 40th birthday, President Herbert Hoover was in London. It was around this time only that Germany had attacked France. He was asked to ensure the safety of stranded tourists.
• His committee had helped more than 12000 Americans return home.
• He was chosen the head of the Food Squad after America had entered the war.
• It was his successful service in the commerce commission under President Calvin Coolidge that earned him the presidential nomination in 1928.
• It was right after a few months of his election that the country went into the Great Depression.

President Calvin Coolidge

• President Calvin Coolidge was the 30th president of The United States
• Known as a man of distinguished character and enormous dignity, President Calvin Coolidge is supposed to have restored the lost dignity and character of the White House.
• Born in the family of a village shop owner on July the 4th in Vermont, he was a distinguished scholar and had got into law at a very early age.
• He entered politics in Northampton, Massachusetts. After becoming the councilor of Northampton, he went on to become the governor of Massachusetts and finally he joined the republicans. During his political journey, he had transformed into a hardcore conservationist.
• As a president, his determination and self motivation to bring back the lost dignity, morality and honor to the prime office in the US was pronounced. Despising the use of his Federal powers to check the boom and depression situations in various industries, President Calvin Coolidge kept himself away from materialistic goals.
• He stated, during his maiden speech, that he felt that the nation was in a state of never before felt contentment and that he was determined to preserve it, but not at the cost of dignity of his office.

President Warren Harding

• President Warren G Harding was the 29th president of The United States
• President Warren G Harding had ideas which were different from the rest of the Presidents of his time. This fact was clear from his speeches even before he was nominated.
• He opposed the ideas of revolution and being internationally strong; rather, he strongly advocated the ideas of stability and being united within the country before aiming to strike it big at the international level. It was because of his practically soothing ideology, that people loved him and his speeches.
• President Warren Harding pursued various distinguished professions at the same time. Born in Ohio in 1865, he went on to become a news paper publisher, became the director of a number of businesses and was also part of various charitable organizations apart from being a member of the Trinity Baptist society- all at the same time.
• He was a political spearhead. Being amiable, having a tenacious capacity to speak and his exuberant personality led him far into the Ohio political arena, from where, the republicans nominated him as a presidential candidate, owing to his larger than life popularity among all.

President Woodrow Wilson

• President Woodrow Wilson was the 28th president of The United States
• Walking on the path carved by President Franklin Roosevelt, President Woodrow Wilson also considered himself to be a servant of the people.
• President Woodrow Wilson was the man behind America’s entrance into the World War and in 1917 he announced that America would enter into the war so that the world is a safer place for democracy.
• He was the man behind the plan of progressive reforms and was also seen as th international advocate of a new world order.
• Having been associated with the Princeton and the Johns Hopkins University, President Woodrow Wilson was an academically sound gentleman. He also started career as an academician.
• In 1885, President Woodrow Wilson tied the knot with Ellen Louis Axson.
• President Woodrow Wilson was a conservative and progressed steadily at the Princeton as a professor of Political Science and went on to become the President of Princeton very early in his career.
• His popularity among the common-folk led the conservatives into considering him for the nomination. After winning over the position of being the Governor of New Jersey in 1910, he went on to become the President in 1913.

President William Howard Taft

• President William Howard Taft was the 27th president of The United States
• Caught between the ongoing and ever ranging political battle between being conservative and the new era of liberalism that was spreading its wings in the US, President Howard Taft was not too comfortable during his 4 year stay at the White House.
• President William Howard Taft was a jovial man, a distinguished administrator, but he lacked the political will and was not good with the manipulative measures needed to stay afloat in the political arena.
• President Howard Taft was born in 1857 and being born into a family of jurists, he also went on to study at Yale. When he returned, he further pursued and practiced law at Cincinnati.
• Known for his administrative abilities, he was sent to the Philippines by President William McKinley in 1900. Subsequently, it was through the way of his administrative abilities that he had escalated his ranks to the White Office.
• It was President Franklin Roosevelt who saw the hidden gem in President Howard Taft and after making him the secretary of war in 1907, decided that President Howard Taft should be his successor.

President William McKinley

• President Rutherford Hayes was the 26th president of The United States
• Right after President William McKinley’s assassination, President Theodore Roosevelt was given the charge of the office.
• At an age just below 43 years, he became the youngest president ever to have assumed the office at the White House in American history.
• President Theodore Roosevelt is said to have brought a new energy to the White House and his aggressive and progressive foreign policies earned him popular support at that time.
• enhancing his view of being the steward of the people, he did all he could to serve his nation the best he could.
• President Theodore Roosevelt had striking dissimilarities to most of the Presidents that had assumed office prior to him- he was young and was born into a well-to-do family based in New York.
• His wife and his mother had died on the same day in 1884. After this incident, Presidnet Theodore Roosevelt spent most of his time in his ranch at Dakota, hunting and leading a rather peaceful life in solace, before marrying Edith Carrow in 1886.
• His fight against ill health made him live a disciplined life and he became one of the best presidents that the US has ever seen.

President William McKinley

• President William McKinley was the 25th president of The United States
• Known as the advance agent of prosperity, President William McKinley had assumed office when the depression of 1893 was at its peak.
• He was backed by the wealthy Republican businessman Marcus Hanna and was a striking opposite to his democrat opponent William Brian.
• Hanna was the main financier of President William McKinley’s campaign and while he was buy raising funds for the Eastern Republican wing, McKinley was busy networking with delegates in the front porch of his Ohio based mansion.
• The combination of an elaborate orator and a wealthy businessman struck well and President William McKinley had won by the maximum margin since 1872.
• His personality, great oration and popularity amongst his students and peers helped him in skyrocketing to a Congress seat when he was just 34 years old.
• Due to his exquisite knowledge of economy and finance, he was also elected to the then powerful Ways and Means committee.
• He was also known as the man behind the highest tariff rates in American history, which were imposed by him owing to the extensive economic damage made by the depression of 1893.
