• President James Garfield was the 20th president of The United States
• President James Garfield was responsible for speaking against the corrupt political system of those times. He is also known as the man to have given the White House its lost prestige back.
• Born in Ohio is 1831, President James Garfield had lost his father at the age of two. Having been through the tragedy, he had proven to be a brave child and used to paddle boats to earn enough money to get himself educated.
• Elected as a Republican to the Ohio Senate in 1859, he was a front runner in winning the seceded states back to the Union at that time.
• At the age of 31, owing to his commendable military skills, President James Garfield became a Brigadier general of an army of volunteers.
• Becoming the “dark horse” nominee in 1880, Garfield was elected to the office in 1881- thanks to the meager majority that he had won.
• Known as the man who had bolstered the weak and corrupt customs departments of New York and other areas, President James Garfield.

    President James Garfield brought back the dignity then! He was a wise man. It’s an interesting fact to become a Brigadier general at 31 years old.

    I think President James Garfield was a good president. However, he also had some bad moves while being a president. But I think every president has them.
